Your passion to communicate with the world may often be your motivation to write an eBook, and the personal satisfaction that you gain from a successful publishing is irreplaceable. At the same time, it’s likely that profits are also a goal, given the thought, time, and money you’ve put into your writing. However, if the entire point of your writing is for profit only, you’ll find yourself struggling to produce quality work.
Write with Passion
A compelling eBook has to be driven by more than just money. It is passion that gives rise to interesting content, and it is involvement in your field of writing that gives you direction. With passion, your content will be more fulfilling. Rather than add to the bandwagon of trending topics, allow your eBook to be refreshing and unique.
Follow your Interests
This means that you have to actually have an interest in what you’re writing. It may seem obvious, but many writers get wrapped up in what they think their audience is looking for. While you certainly want to cater to your readers, writing about a popular topic simply because you think that it might sell will only produce a shallow piece of work.
Search for Depth
A good eBook has depth on a topic that other writers can’t duplicate. Your distinct writing style and interest will be what sells, rather than piggy-backing off of what is popular in the moment. You’ll also find that you’ll write more if you’re enjoying the process. By mining deep from both your interests and your unique perspective, you’ll potentially be able to create a series of works that you and your audience can’t get enough of.
If you find that you’re genuinely not interested in what you’re writing, the dreaded writer’s block will become a common part of your experience. You’ll become exhausted during the early stages of your eBook before things have even begun. So before you get ahead of yourself, check whether it is passion or profits that is driving your eBook.
